Who is behind this?
I have been a hairdresser and colourist for 25 years.
That means hundreds of women, over decades, some of whom I have cut through pregnancy, through illness, through chemotherapy, through menopause. You see things from that chair that do not appear in any paper. You also hear things, because people tell their hairdresser what they do not tell anyone else.
I then spent years inside the beauty industry on the brand side, with a background in science. That is where I learned how a claim gets built. Which study gets funded, which gets quoted with the inconvenient half removed, and which gets written in a meeting by someone who has never read a paper. Once you have watched that process from the inside, you cannot unsee it on a shelf.
And then my own hair started thinning.
I want to be careful here. I am not going to tell you I know what this feels like for you. Men losing hair get sympathy and a joke about it at the pub. Women losing hair get told they look tired, and get on with it. Those are not the same experience, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.
What I do know is the mechanics of it. Counting what came out on the pillow. Checking in a particular light, at a particular angle, because that is the one that tells the truth. Reading the same forum thread at one in the morning. Buying the thing. Waiting the twelve weeks. Deciding it has not worked, and buying the next thing.
That is why this guide exists. Not because I found the answer, but because I realised that with a science background, twenty five years of professional experience and an insider's view of how the claims are made, I still could not work out what to believe. If it was that hard for me, the problem is not you.
So this book does the thing I needed. It grades every claim on the evidence, shows you where the research disagrees, and teaches you to judge the next product yourself, whoever is selling it.

Everything you have been told about hair growth, graded on the evidence.
Twenty five years as a hairdresser and colourist. A background in science and brand marketing inside the industry that writes the claims. This is the guide I wanted when my own hair started thinning.

The problem
Your hair changes. The advice does not. Take a supplement, try minoxidil, be patient. Nobody tells you that thinning at 32 after a baby and thinning at 52 in menopause are different problems with different answers, and that the treatment only works if you have correctly identified which one you have.
So you buy things. And you wait. And nothing much happens.
Why this one is different
Every claim in this guide is graded: strong evidence, emerging evidence, plausible but unproven, or marketing. Where the research disagrees, you are shown the disagreement instead of a tidy answer. Where nothing works, it says so.
I spent years inside beauty brands watching how claims get built. I know which studies get funded, which get quoted out of context, and which get invented in a marketing meeting. That is the part I can give you that a dermatology PDF cannot.
What is inside
Six sections. How hair actually grows. How to work out what is happening on your own head, including when to stop reading and see a doctor. What is most likely causing it at your life stage, from your twenties through menopause. What the evidence says about minoxidil, prescriptions, devices and supplements, graded honestly. What twenty five years behind the chair taught me about damage, tension and creating the look of density. And a plan you can actually follow, with a realistic twelve month timeline.
Who it is for
Women who want the reasoning, not another routine. Anyone who has spent money on hair products and wants to stop guessing.
Who it is not for
Anyone wanting a thirty day transformation. This will tell you hair works on a twelve month clock, and that some things cannot be reversed.

Important
This is education, not medical advice. It tells you clearly when to see a GP, dermatologist or trichologist and does not replace either.
FAQ
Will it tell me exactly what to take?
No. It tells you what has evidence, what does not, and how to evaluate any product for yourself.
Is this a supplement guide?
Supplements are one part of one section.
Is it for men?
It is written for female biology and female patterns. Men will find the evidence sections useful, but the life stage map will not apply. If you are interested in men’s guide, drop me a DM on Instagram.
